Basketball Game Preview: Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs vs. La Junta Tigers

The Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the La Junta Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Last Wednesday, Pueblo Centennial lost to Pueblo Central at home by a 44-25 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, La Junta beat Florence 25-16 on Friday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Pueblo Centennial better keep an eye on Katalina Salas. She was instrumental in La Junta's win, putting up ten points. The dominant performance also gave Salas a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (67%). Isabelle Aragon was another key player, earning four points and seven boards.

La Junta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Pueblo Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for La Junta, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Pueblo Centennial came up short against La Junta in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 30-17. Can Pueblo Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
