Basketball Recap: Mountain Vista Piles Up the Points Against Palmer

While Mountain Vista didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by the Palmer Terrors to the tune of 85-20 on Friday. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kennedy Spellman, who went 13 for 25 on her way to 35 points and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mountain Vista's points. Kiarra Spellman was another key player, going 7 of 14 on her way to 20 points and seven steals.

Mountain Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Mountain Vista is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Palmer, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles challenge the Stargate School Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mountain Vista will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Palmer, they and Vista PEAK Prep will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Palmer is facing Vista PEAK Prep at the right time seeing as Vista PEAK Prep is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
