Volleyball Game Preview: St. Helena Saints vs. Upper Lake Cougars

The St. Helena Saints will head out on the road to take on the Upper Lake Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Helena will be strutting in after a win while Upper Lake will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Helena will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Fort Bragg, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Saints came out on top in a nail-biter against the Timberwolves on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since September 6th.

St. Helena took Fort Bragg into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-12, 22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 17-15.

Meanwhile, Upper Lake came up short against Middletown on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Cougars have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Upper Lake started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

Upper Lake's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for St. Helena, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.

St. Helena couldn't quite get it done against Upper Lake in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
