Volleyball Recap: Athens Academy Finds Home Court Redemption Against Franklin County

There's no place like home for Athens Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past the Franklin County Lions 2-1.

Athens Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-23, 16-14.

Athens Academy found their leader in freshman Riley Muir, who had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs set a new season-high mark for Muir.

Athens Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Athens Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Franklin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coincidentally, Athens Academy and Franklin County will both be playing Jefferson the next time they take the court. The Lions will head out to face the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
