Football Recap: Marlboro Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Marlboro lost against Middletown North back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs were beaten by the Lions 37-7. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.

Middletown North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Belenko led the charge by rushing for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Another signal caller making a difference was Owen Robson, who threw for 248 yards and one TD while completing 78.9% of his passes.

Marlboro's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Middletown North, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Marlboro and Middletown North could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Mustangs will challenge Rumson-Fair Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (70 vs. 12). Meanwhile, Middletown North (ranked 71st) will meet Red Bank Catholic (ranked tenth) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
