Baseball Recap: Whitman-Hanson Regional Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Whitman-Hanson Regional, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the New Bedford Whalers by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Whalers: they've now won six in a row.

Shea Cote tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Getchell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Pruitt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Whitman-Hanson Regional's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for New Bedford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Whitman-Hanson Regional will face off against Plymouth North at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. New Bedford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
