Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Vikings vs. Aurora Huskies

Waverly is 2-8 against Aurora since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Waverly Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Aurora Huskies at 7:30 p.m.

Waverly is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 73-47 to Bishop Neumann. The Vikings were down 52-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Aurora came tearing into Saturday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 57-48 win over the Cardinals.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Aurora, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.

Everything came up roses for Waverly against Aurora in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 61-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waverly since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
