Hampshire hasn't had much luck against Cary-Grove recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Whip-Purs will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Hampshire had just enough and edged out McHenry 19-17. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Whip-Purs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cary-Grove). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Crystal Lake South 56-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Trojans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Gators are ranked 245th).

Hampshire better keep an eye on Logan Abrams. He was instrumental in Cary-Grove's win, rushing for 91 yards and five touchdowns on only 11 carries. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Abrams a new career-high.

Cary-Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryan Darby and Jason Ritter Jr..

Cary-Grove's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Hampshire, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Hampshire took a serious blow against Cary-Grove when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 48-7. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Whip-Purs were down 34-0.
