Softball Game Preview: Frewsburg Bears vs. Forestville Central Hornets

The Frewsburg Bears will take on the Forestville Central Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Frewsburg is looking for their season's first win.

Friday just wasn't the day for Frewsburg's offense. They came up short against Chautauqua Lake on Friday, falling 14-0.

Meanwhile, Forestville Central owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Brocton 2-0. The two-run effort marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Brocton's batters probably weren't too happy with Megan Gruber, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Gruber.

On the hitting side, Forestville Central's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Valentine, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Valentine has hit this season.

Frewsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Forestville Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
