Basketball Game Preview: Grove Christian School Falcons vs. Cristo Rey Royals

The Grove Christian School Falcons will take on the Cristo Rey Royals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Grove Christian School came up short against Stuart Hall and fell 56-46. The loss put an end to the Falcons' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the defeat, Grove Christian School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kailah Carter shot 44% from the field on her way to 24 points and five boards. That was a full 52.2% of the Falcons' points, marking the third time in a row Carter has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sidney Fisher, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, falling 37-12. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly 25 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Grove Christian School fell to 2-1. As for Cristo Rey, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Grove Christian School beat Cristo Rey 22-14 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
