Basketball Recap: Durham Charter Takes a Loss

Durham Charter extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They fell 62-53 to the Heritage Leadership Academy Fletchers. The Lions lost against the Fletchers in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 72-42 score last time.

As for Heritage Leadership Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Heritage Leadership Academy was led to victory by Eli Huston and Jacob Peterson. Huston dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards, while Peterson shot 55% from the field to rack up 18 points. Huston continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Winders, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durham Charter will venture away from home to face off against Hillside at 5:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Heritage Leadership Academy, they and Bethesda Christian Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
