Golden Valley is 8-2 against Atwater since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Golden Valley Cougars will head out to face off against the Atwater Falcons at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Golden Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past El Capitan 2-1.

Carlos Barragan-Pena and Anthony Olivera-Alcarez scored both of Golden Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Atwater made sure to put some goals up on the board against Merced on Friday. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 4-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Falcons were the better team in the second half.

Golden Valley has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those eight matches. As for Atwater, the win got them back to even at 7-7-5.

Golden Valley skirted past Atwater 3-2 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Golden Valley since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
