Baseball Recap: Carver Wins Going Away Against Westport

Carver never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Westport Wildcats 6-0.

The result came thanks to Ryder Holmes's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Carver's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Levon Mulready, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Mulready's first of the season. Another was Kyle Hoffman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Carver's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Westport, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver will head out to challenge Dennis-Yarmouth Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 2.8, the Dolphins 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Westport, they will square off against Billerica Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
