Softball Recap: Red Mountain Mountain Lions vs. Desert Ridge Jaguars
Red Mountain faced Desert Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Red Mountain never let Desert Ridge get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Mountain Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Kendall Cochran's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Nina Montenegro was incredible, firing off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-5. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Mia Burns was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run.
Red Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Ridge only posted a batting average of .045.
