Basketball Recap: East Chicago Central Has No Trouble Against Griffith

With a playoff win on the line, East Chicago Central rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They took down the Griffith Panthers 62-48. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Dominique Murphy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 31 points and seven boards. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarie Pollard, who posted seven points along with six steals and five rebounds.

East Chicago Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Griffith's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Strezo, who scored eight points and six boards. Gianni Feaster also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

East Chicago Central's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Griffith, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Coming up, East Chicago Central will take on Hammond Bishop Noll at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. East Chicago Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. Griffith does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
