Basketball Recap: Tait Thalheim's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northern Valley over Thunder Ridge

Northern Valley fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Thunder Ridge on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder Ridge Longhorns. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Northern Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tait Thalheim, who posted 15 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Thalheim, who put up ten points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Northern Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Thunder Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Northern Valley will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Alma at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Thunder Ridge will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Osborne at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
