In other batting news, Atchison got a massive performance out of Yogi Purdy, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Purdy is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Leighton Boldridge was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Atchison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only managed three hits.
Leavenworth's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Piper on Saturday. The PIONEERS were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Lawrence. The victory was some much needed relief for the PIONEERS as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Noah Davis and Julian Simon did most of the damage at the plate: Davis got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Simon got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Leavenworth is 4-2 when Davis posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gabe Fryman, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Atchison's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Leavenworth, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
