Basketball Recap: Murray Comes Up Short

Murray was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 81-64 fall against the Lehi Pioneers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Murray still got an impressive performance from Treyce Wilson, who went 9 of 13 en route to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Davies, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Lehi's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Shewell, who posted 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saxon Young, who had 16 points and seven assists.

Murray now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lehi, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

Murray didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-43 defeat against Olympus on the 30th. As for Lehi, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Salem Hills at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Lehi has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
