Softball Game Preview: Portsmouth Trojans vs. Southeastern Panthers

The Portsmouth Trojans will head out to take on the Southeastern Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Portsmouth not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18th (when they won 12-2). Everything went their way against Fairland as they made off with an 8-2 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Southeastern faced off against Paint Valley on Friday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 8-2 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Kylie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Southeastern let Jade Turner and Gracie Brown run wild. Turner went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Brown went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Brown has posted since back in April. Molly Lowry also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Portsmouth, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
