Softball Recap: Lancaster's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After flying high against Life Oak Cliff last Saturday, Lancaster came back down to earth. The Lancaster Tigers lost 21-8 to the Horn Jaguars on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this contest were averaging 3.06 runs allowed.

Kelsea Patton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Petry, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

With the loss, Lancaster broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.8 runs. As for Horn, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7-1.

Lancaster and Horn should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lancaster will face off against Cedar Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 520 places (408 vs. 928). Lancaster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.8 runs per game this season. Meanwhile, Horn (ranked 275th) will meet Mesquite (ranked 585th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
