Basketball Recap: Bayfield Comes Up Short

Bayfield played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Pagosa Springs Pirates, falling 57-26. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Pirates are ranked 66th).

Despite the loss, Bayfield still got an impressive performance from Renae Foutz, who posted 17 points. The contest was Foutz's third in a row with at least 17 points.

Karsyn Shahan went supernova for Pagosa Springs, putting up nine points along with eight boards and four steals. Elizabeth Currier was another key player, posting 19 points.

Bayfield's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Pagosa Springs, they moved to 16-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

As of now, neither Bayfield nor Pagosa Springs have any future games scheduled.
