Carbondale had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Murphysboro Red Devils by a score of 21-13. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Terriers also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Carbondale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Davin Wooley, who threw for 225 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 49 yards. 84 of Wooley's passing yards were hauled in by Mac Fenton, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Carbondale's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jaquavious 'JJ' Oliver, Emilio Isspeih, and Savion Jayden Thomas-Mims, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Murphysboro's side was Andrew 'Buck' Miller, who made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Looking ahead, Carbondale will host Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Terriers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Murphysboro, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Anna-Jonesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
