Softball Game Preview: Nogales Apaches vs. Flowing Wells Caballeros

For the second straight game, Nogales will face off against Flowing Wells. Nogales will be playing in front of their home fans against Flowing Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nogales has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Nogales' offense. They came up short against Flowing Wells on Saturday, falling 13-0. The Apaches haven't had much luck with the Caballeros recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For Flowing Wells' part, Janessa Aguilar was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, Aguilar posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Vivian Castaneda, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Flowing Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nogales only posted an OBP of .235.

Flowing Wells has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. Nogales now has a losing record of 6-7.

Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nogales hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Flowing Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
