Basketball Game Preview: Community Vikings/Viqueens vs. Loretto Mustangs

Community hasn't had much luck against Loretto recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Community Vikings/Viqueens will head out on the road to square off against the Loretto Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Community will be strutting in after a victory while Loretto will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Community made off with a 55-54 win over Grundy County.

Meanwhile, Loretto came up short against Summertown on Saturday and fell 39-31. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Community's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-17. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Loretto, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 20-8.

Community took a serious blow against Loretto when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 60-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Loretto's Ally Weathers, who posted 26 points. Now that Community knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
