Baseball Recap: Milpitas Takes a Loss

Milpitas had lost eight straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-16 to make it nine. They came up short against the Palo Alto Vikings, falling 8-1. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 12-3 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Milpitas saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Primicias, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Adrian Chavez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Palo Alto, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-11. Eight seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Palo Alto's side, Cormac White tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off ten hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave White a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Coco Vonderhaar, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Palo Alto is 3-1 when Vonderhaar posts three or more hits, but 6-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Bader, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

While Milpitas had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
