Basketball Recap: Eaton Comes Up Short

Eaton had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-21 to make it four. They received a blow as they fell 65-48 to the Dunbar Wolverines. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 68-43 to the Wolverines when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Dunbar, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Eaton is ranked 717th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dunbar found their leader in sophomore Jay'Mal Whitfield, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitfield has scored all season. Corwynn Fields II was another key player, going 7-for-16 en route to 19 points.

Eaton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dunbar, they have already played their next contest, a 70-58 loss against Northridge on the 3rd.
