MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard
1. (No. 1 last week) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 23-0Stanley Johnson led the way with 27 points as the Monarchs
prevailed 69-57 in a showdown with No. 17 Whitney Young on Saturday at the Nike Extravaganza. Mater Dei's toughest remaining regular season test comes Friday at St. John Bosco (Bellflower).
2. (2) Rainier Beach (Seattle), 19-0The Vikings are one win away from an unbeaten regular season after pounding Bainbridge (Bainbridge Island) 96-35 over the weekend. Beach faces rival Franklin (Seattle) on Friday.
3. (3) Curie (Chicago), 18-1After a full week off, the Condors begin Chicago Public Schools tournament play Wednesday.
4. (4) Montverde Academy (Fla.), 22-1Head coach Kevin Boyle's Eagles weren't particularly hospitable on the court at the Montverde Academy Invitational over the weekend, beating American Heritage (Plantation), Math, Civics & Sciences (Philadelphia) and Greensboro Day (N.C.) by a combined 103 points en route to the tournament title.
5. (5) White Station (Memphis, Tenn.), 22-1The Spartans close out the regular season this week with games against Memphis rivals Central, Overton and Melrose.{PAGEBREAK}

6. (7) Northside Christian Academy (Charlotte, N.C.), 21-1Not much stands in the way of the NCISAA 2A state title for Northside. The Knights wrap up the regular season this week against SouthLake Christian Academy (Huntsville) and Westminster Catawba Christian (Rock Hill, S.C.).
7. (20) St. John's (Washington, D.C.), 18-1The Cadets make the biggest leap in the rankings after winning five games last week, including four against teams in the upper half of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. The highlight was a 71-68 win over No. 11 Paul VI – avenging the only loss of the year for St. John's.
8. (16) Loyola (Los Angeles), 21-1The Cubs were hungry for revenge Friday against Mission League rival Chaminade (West Hills), who won a Jan. 10 meeting 73-61. Loyola got what it was looking for this time around with a 54-41 win as Arizona-bound point guard
Parker Jackson-Cartwright led the way with 16 points and seven assists.
9. (6) Arsenal Technical (Indianapolis), 17-2Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers) snapped Tech's 16-game win streak Saturday with a 77-71 victory. The Titans still have an impressive resume from a national perspective with wins over No. 10 La Lumiere, No. 19 Huntington St. Joseph Prep (twice) and Kentucky state title contender Ballard of Louisville.
10. (10) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 17-2There isn't a lot to get excited about remaining on La Lumiere's schedule. The Lakers should earn a spot in the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament at Madison Square Garden in April.{PAGEBREAK}
11. (8) Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.), 19-4The Panthers bounced back from a Thursday loss to No. 7 St. John's by trouncing Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) 69-49 the following night. Paul VI will have an opportunity to avenge one of its losses Friday against Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.).
12. (9) Providence (Jacksonville, Fla.), 23-4Head coach Jim Martin's Stallions were stunned by local independent Potter's House Christian last week. Providence responded by knocking off The Rock (Gainesville) in its home finale and moves on to district tournament play this week.
13. (13) Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, Ga.), 23-0Spartan head coach Eddie Martin could be on the way to a seventh state title in Georgia. Greater Atlanta Christian has won nearly 90 percent of its games since Martin arrived in 2008.
14. (14) Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.), 23-1The Aztecs have won 32 of their last 33 games dating back to last season. Corona del Sol will play three games in four days this week to wrap up the regular season.
15. (15) Apple Valley (Minn.), 19-1Senior point guard
Tyus Jones will be tough to keep off the first team All-American list. The future Duke Blue Devil is putting up 27.1 points and 7.3 assists per game this season for Apple Valley, which has won 48 of its last 49 games.{PAGEBREAK}
16. (NR) Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, Fla.), 19-3With head coach Rex Morgan battling cancer, the Apaches have caught fire. ACD has wins quality wins over No. 18 Oak Hill Academy, St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.), St. James (Md.) and Sunrise Christian Academy since Dec. 30.
17. (18) Whitney Young (Chicago), 15-5Facing No. 1 Mater Dei on its home floor Saturday was a tall task for the Dolphins, made even tougher by the fact that the game started after 10 p.m. (after midnight CST). Whitney Young has played eight games against teams that have appeared in the Xcellent 25 this season.
18. (11) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 29-3It's been a disappointing couple of weeks for the Warriors, who were in the national championship picture heading into the Spalding Hoophall Classic. But a loss there to No. 17 Whitney Young combined with a setback last Wednesday to No. 16 Arlington Country Day have sent Oak Hill spiraling down the rankings.
19. (19) Huntington St. Joseph Prep (W.Va.), 21-4Coming off a pair of dominant wins at the O.J. Mayo Classic, the Irish have a chance to avenge a November loss Wednesday against The Carlisle School (Martinsville, Va.).
20. (21) Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, Va.), 14-0A prime opportunity to see where the Dolphins truly stack up nationally against Our Savior New American (Centereach, N.Y.) was wiped out by weather over the weekend. Cape Henry Collegiate has had five weather-related cancellations in the past two weeks.{PAGEBREAK}

22. (23) Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), 23-4McDonald's All-American
Kelly Oubre averaged 24 points in a pair of lopsided wins for the Pilots last week.
23. (NR) Lincoln (Brooklyn, N.Y.), 17-3Two of Lincoln's losses came against Top 10 teams (No. 4 Montverde Academy and No. 6 Northside Christian Academy) and both of those were barnburners. The Railsplitters' local schedule has been marred by postponements and forfeits.
24. (NR) Muskegon (Mich.), 12-0Michigan's top-ranked team is led by junior Michigan State commitment
Deyonta Davis, who registered a triple-double (14 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocked shots) in a 71-57 win over Union last week. The Big Reds handed No. 3 Curie – minus national POY frontrunner Cliff Alexander – its only loss of the season in early January.
25. (NR) Carmel (Ind.), 12-1Computers love the Greyhounds. The MaxPreps Freeman Rankings have Carmel at No. 7 nationally while Jeff Sagarin's Indiana high school basketball rankings have the two-time defending 4A champs at No. 1 in Indiana.
