Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Takes a Loss

Trinity Christian was the 83-70 winner over Eastwood when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. The Trinity Christian Lions took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastwood Troopers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Troopers are ranked 161st).

Despite the defeat, Trinity Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lucai Anderson posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Ashley, who put up four points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Trinity Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastwood only racked up three assists.

Leading Eastwood to victory were Devin Falk-Ramirez and Julien Falk-Ramirez. Devin went 8 of 16 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds, while Julien had eight points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Devin's afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Bennett, who posted nine points.

Trinity Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Eastwood, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Trinity Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-53 win against Oklahoma City S on the 27th. As for Eastwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-44 loss against Carter on the 27th.
