The Mendon Unity Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Palmyra Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mendon Unity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Mendon Unity didn't have quite enough to beat Camp Point Central and fell 5-4.

Skylor Goudschaal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Simon Rabe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Palmyra started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Macon. They came up short against the Tigers on Tuesday, falling 10-4.

Palmyra saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryant Horstmeier, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Horstmeier has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 1-5 otherwise. Another was Logan Kroeger, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mendon Unity's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Palmyra, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Mendon Unity came out on top in a nail-biter against Palmyra in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
