Softball Game Preview: South Vermillion Wildcats vs. Riverton Parke Panthers

The South Vermillion Wildcats will square off against the Riverton Parke Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Vermillion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, South Vermillion made easy work of North Vermillion and carried off a 12-2 win. Considering the Wildcats have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Keagan Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rosie Travioli was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Layla Mackey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

South Vermillion was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Riverton Parke and Clay City, and Riverton Parke kept the tradition alive. The Panthers skirted past the Eels 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since May 13, 2024.

Riverton Parke's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for South Vermillion, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
