Softball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Takes a Loss

After flying high against Urbana on Tuesday, Peoria Notre Dame came back down to earth. The Irish came up short against the Rochester Rockets on Wednesday, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Irish have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Mady Gibson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Peoria Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Rochester, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peoria Notre Dame will take on St. Teresa at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Rochester, they will square off against Carterville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight.
