Basketball Recap: New Underwood Comes Up Short

New Underwood lost against Philip back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Underwood Tigers took a 55-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Philip Scotties. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, New Underwood still got an impressive performance from Jocelyn Fulton, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Scott, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, New Underwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Philip's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Terkildsen led the charge by going 8 for 13 on her way to 23 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Terkildsen is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Mattisen Reckling, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points.

New Underwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Philip, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

New Underwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-20 loss against Kadoka on the 23rd. As for Philip, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-45 victory against Wall on the 23rd.
