Baseball Recap: Londonderry Wins Going Away Against Merrimack

Londonderry barely beat Merrimack the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Tomahawks on Wednesday. 11 seems to be a good number for the Lancers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Londonderry got a great performance from Brady Gillis as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gillis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brett Mckinnon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jet Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Londonderry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Londonderry pushed their record up to 7-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Merrimack, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Londonderry will challenge Spaulding at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Merrimack, they will face off against Manchester Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
