Preview: Roman Catholic Cahillite vs. Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls

Roman Catholic is 9-0 against Archbishop Ryan since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday. The Roman Catholic Cahillite's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls at 2:30 p.m. on February 11th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Roman Catholic and St. Joseph's Prep (ranked 50 and 98 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest. Roman Catholic came out on top against St. Joseph's Prep by a score of 67-57 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Ryan entered their tilt with Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Archbishop Ryan walked away with a 60-51 win over Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic on Thursday. Given Archbishop Ryan's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Ryan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thomas Sorber, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sorber hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 19 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Murray, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Roman Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Archbishop Ryan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Roman Catholic beat Archbishop Ryan 57-48 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Roman Catholic repeat their success, or does Archbishop Ryan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
