Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for C.H. Yoe

C.H. Yoe had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They never let the Nimitz Cougars get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Yoemen have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaycee Cruz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kasara Brooks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Diana Salomon, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

C.H. Yoe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

C.H. Yoe's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Nimitz, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, C.H. Yoe will be taking part in a tournament against Grand Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Nimitz, they will square off against Westfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nimitz has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
