Baseball Recap: Gilman Takes a Loss

After flying high against Greenwood on Monday, Gilman came back down to earth. The Pirates came up short against the Columbus Catholic Dons on Tuesday, falling 17-3. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Dons recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Gilman saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Lucas Halida also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Gilman's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Columbus Catholic, they moved to 5-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Gilman had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
