Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeRidder). They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over the LaGrange Gators on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won nine in a row.
Alyssa Hall made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, DeRidder got a massive performance out of Demi Burks, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Burks has posted over her last 11 contests. Shaniyah Peters also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
DeRidder always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
DeRidder's record is now 7-11. As for LaGrange, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
Coming up, DeRidder will venture away from home to face off against Washington-Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for LaGrange, they will square off against Iowa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Iowa's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
