Football Game Preview: DeKalb Barons vs. Norwell Knights

The DeKalb Barons will take on the Norwell Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. DeKalb will be strutting in after a victory while Norwell will be coming in after a loss.

DeKalb is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 win over Huntington North on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barons.

DeKalb's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli McCormick, who threw for 256 yards and five TDs. Those five passing touchdowns gave McCormick a new career-high. Xavier Bell was McCormick's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

DeKalb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to DeKalb's defense and their three sacks. Zeke Penrod was especially locked on to Huntington North's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, Norwell fell victim to East Noble and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by East Noble 35-0. While losing is never fun, Norwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 208th, while East Noble is ranked 27th).

DeKalb's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Norwell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

DeKalb took their win against Norwell when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 47-21 score. Do the Barons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
