Softball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 21-6 to the Stratford Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Fighting Cardinals have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Molly Merrill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Thiel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Newman's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Stratford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Stratford will square off against Crandon at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Newman will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' match: after the Tigers faces off against the Cardinals, they'll take on Newman again at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
