Softball Recap: Mcclatchy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

While McClatchy's victory against Kennedy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Not much got past Madelyn Ogata, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Kennedy off the board. Ogata has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McClatchy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Brereton, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

McClatchy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.

McClatchy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

McClatchy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-0 loss against Bella Vista on the 5th. As for Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-2 defeat against West Park on the 8th.
