Basketball Recap: Red Springs Has No Trouble Against Pender

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dillon, Red Springs was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They greeted the New Year with with a 46-30 win over the Pender Patriots. The match marked the Red Devils' most dominant victory of the season.

Red Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Monica Washington, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Rilee Sampson, who had 11 points.

Despite the loss, Pender saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maddison Francis earned 16 points and seven rebounds.

Red Springs' victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Pender, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Red Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-25 defeat against Fairmont on the 7th. As for Pender, they will head out to challenge Whiteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
