Softball Game Preview: Kouts Mustangs & Fillies vs. Hanover Central Wildcats

The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies will square off against the Hanover Central Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Kouts fell victim to South Central and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Satellites, falling 7-0. The Mustangs & Fillies' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kouts saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyanne Bailey, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Hanover Central's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Central. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jillian Deyoung spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Kouts now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Hanover Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Kouts hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hanover Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 home runs.
