Baseball Recap: North White Vikings vs. West Central Trojans
North White extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-7 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Central Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Tuesday.
As for West Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
For West Central's part, Teagan Holle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Holle is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Huber, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddox Gutwein, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.
