Baseball Recap: St. James Find Success

St. James took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Salem, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. St. James skirted past Salem 3-1. This was a revenge game for St. James: when they faced off against Salem back in April, they had to take a 15-5 defeat.

JV Meurer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. James is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-17 otherwise. Meurer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Jesse Hudson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Drake Plummer was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

St. James' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-18. As for Salem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9-1.

As of now, neither St. James nor Salem have any future games scheduled.
