Basketball Recap: Harrison Hoyas vs. Hillgrove Hawks
Harrison lost against Hillgrove back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Harrison Hoyas fell 71-60 to the Hillgrove Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Hoyas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Hawks are ranked 29th).
Hillgrove found their leader in sophomore Asa Montgomery, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Montgomery's third in a row with at least ten points. Bryson Jatta was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.
This is the second loss in a row for Harrison and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Hillgrove, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison will take on South Cobb at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Cobb knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Harrison likes a good challenge. As for Hillgrove, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Hillgrove Hawks take on the Pebblebrook Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
