Basketball Recap: Holy Spirit Takes a Loss

Holy Spirit lost against Middle Township back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Holy Spirit Spartans fell 42-32 to the Middle Township Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Panthers are ranked 18th).

Middle Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reagen Powell led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Toland, who posted eight points.

Holy Spirit's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Middle Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Holy Spirit will take on St. Joseph on Friday. Holy Spirit is facing St. Joseph at the right time seeing as St. Joseph is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Middle Township, they will be playing at home against Eastern at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
