Softball Game Preview: Stony Point Tigers vs. Round Rock Westwood Warriors

The Stony Point Tigers will head out to face off against the Round Rock Westwood Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stony Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Stony Point is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Vista Ridge on Tuesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ria Champaneri was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stony Point saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Perlinger, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Round Rock Westwood can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over McNeil.

Round Rock Westwood's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Stony Point, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6-1.

Everything went Stony Point's way against Round Rock Westwood in their previous matchup back in March, as Stony Point made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
