Softball Game Preview: Whiteville Wolfpack vs. East Bladen Eagles

The Whiteville Wolfpack will venture away from home to face off against the East Bladen Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Whiteville didn't have quite enough to beat Pender and fell 4-3.

Meanwhile, East Bladen had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 10-0 shutout. Ten seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

East Bladen let Mollie Tolar and Taylor Dowless run wild. Tolar scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Dowless scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Martha Simmons, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Whiteville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for East Bladen, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Whiteville suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to East Bladen in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
