Baseball Game Preview: Altoona Mountain Lions vs. Central Dauphin Rams

Altoona is 2-7 against Central Dauphin since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mountain Lions will take on the Rams at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Altoona was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Chambersburg on Thursday. The Mountain Lions blew past the Trojans 11-2.

Cumberland Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Central Dauphin proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Eagles. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Declan Musselman tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jace Collins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Powell, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Altoona's record is now 9-7. As for Central Dauphin, their record now sits at 6-8.

Altoona beat Central Dauphin 7-4 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountain Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
