Volleyball Recap: Firestone Comes Up Short

Firestone was the 3-1 winner over Jackson when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons came up short against the Polar Bears on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Firestone was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 15 points in every single set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15, 25-15.

Calvin Cooper paced Firestone's offense, picking up 11 kills. Cooper got some help from Tala Paing and his 16 assists. Elijah Myers controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Firestone has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Jackson, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3.

Firestone has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Louisville on the 22nd. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against St. Vincent-St. Mary on the 17th.
